- Please note that due to the regulations of the Office of Foreign Assets Control, we are unable to transfer specimens collected in Cuba, Iran, or North Korea internationally.
- Send the request from the Curator or Director of the recognized herbarium to <huh-requests@oeb.harvard.edu> or by post to the Director. Please include:
    - The name and status of the researcher (student, staff member, visiting scientist, etc.)
    - A brief description of the nature and scope of the study
    - A list of taxa requested, with possible synonyms (include families or cryptogamic groups). If any taxa are listed in the CITES Appendices (link <http://www.cites.org/eng/app/appendices.php>) or the USDA Federal Noxious Weeds List (link <http://plants.usda.gov/java/noxious?rptType=Federal>) then documentation proving your institution may receive these specimens is required.
    - For any type specimen where an image is insufficient *(link to page for requesting digital images of types)* include the basionyms (including authors)
    - The geographic scope of specimens desired, if appropriate
- Loans are made for a period of one year; if further time is required, an extension may be requested by the Curator/Director by emailing <huh-requests@oeb.harvard.edu>. Loans may not be transferred without written consent from the Harvard University Herbaria.
- Upon arrival of the material please check all material; record any discrepancies or pertinent notes on the loan condition, and return the acknowledgement form to the Harvard University Herbaria.
