Harvard Papers in Botany (HPB) is a refereed, invite-only, journal that welcomes longer monographic and floristic accounts of plants and fungi, as well as papers concerning systematic botany, molecular phylogenetics, plant physiological ecology, the history of botany, and relevant and significant bibliographies, as well as book reviews. Harvard Papers in Botany is open to all who wish to contribute and accepts submissions in both English and Spanish. Potential authors may propose their papers by following our [Proposal Guidelines](/sites/g/files/omnuum6796/files/2025-06/Proprosal%20guidelines%20HPB%202025.pdf "HPB Paper Proposal Guidelines 2025") and sending the proposal to <papers@oeb.harvard.edu>

**Manuscript Submission**

Once your proposal is accepted, manuscripts, including tables and figures, should be submitted [via email](mailto:papers@oeb.harvard.edu) as attachments.

The text should be in a major word-processing program in a Windows, Mac, or compatible format. Authors should include a completed [Submission Checklist](/sites/g/files/omnuum6796/files/2025-06/submission-checklist_2025_0.pdf "Submission Checklist HPB 2025") with the submission. Authors should include the approximate locations of tables and figures. Please note, authors writing monographs should include an Index to Numbered Collections at the end of their papers.

The next issue of Harvard Papers in Botany is scheduled for January 2026. Invited authors should expect to have their manuscripts submitted by July 15th.
