DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Marc Jeanson</strong><br>Collections Manager of the National Herbarium<br>Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle</p><p><strong>Topic</strong>: The renovation of the French National Herbarium : new opportunities, new challenges</p><p><strong>Abstract:</strong><br>Between 2007 and 2013 the largest herbarium in the world went through a drastic renovation which led to the largest virtual collection of botanical specimens. In addition to technical and philosophical challenges, the new setting led us to develop many projects and collaborations which would not have been possible without the massive digitization effort (6 million scans). The talk aims to explain the different steps which were necessary to bring this twenty-first century out of a nineteenth century inheritance, and to give a brief description of new programs developped by MNHN.</p><p> </p>
