**Topic**: What the Quaternary paleobiological record can tell us about vegetation turnover and climate change?

 **Abstract**
The fossil record provides direct evidence of the presence of an organism in the past. Despite some known limitations, in the recent years it has been highlighted the important role that the integration of the fossil record can have on our understanding of the evolution and maintenance of biodiversity. This motivation has generated a great effort to move from local data to the integration of global paleoecological repositories that integrate the historical efforts of many scientists that have studied fossil deposits. In this talk I will present the potential role that the study of the Quaternary fossil record has on the study of vegetation evolution in North America.

 **Host Lab**: Davis
