Ray has been an Associate of HUH since 1990 and Curator of Vascular Plants for the New England Botanical Club (NEBC) since 1984. Previously he was Assistant Curator since 1979. Ray was associated with Harvard's Concord Field Station in Bedford, Massachusetts from 1974 to 1998.Past projects include publication of his Concord Area Trees, Concord Area Shrubs, Botanical Index to the Journal of Henry D. Thoreau, and Concord Area Trees and Shrubs. Currently Ray is working with David Boufford on an atlas of the New England flora. Ray is also implementing the merger of the NEBC herbarium with the HUH collections, and will oversee the New England holdings of these herbaria.
