- Principal Research Fellow (Microbial Ecologist)
- Australian Rivers Institute
- The Missing Carbon Link, in Australasian Science (pdf)
Research Interests:
Principal Research Fellow in the Australian Rivers Institute and the School of Environmental Engineering at Griffith University, where he is the leader of a keen group of Microbial Ecologists. Over the last 20 years his research has developed and applied innovative methods to describe ecosystem processes, the dynamics and fundamental role of microrganisms (algae, cyanobacteria, bacteria and viruses) in aquatic ecosystems in coastal zones, wet lands, creeks, rivers, lakes and water treatment processes. Currently he is working at Harvard University Herbaria as a Smithsonian Fellow to pursue his research on global carbon cycling in collaboration with CTFS and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI). He has just returned from a 3 month study on Barro Colorado Island in Panama and is now working in the Harvard Forest.
