Biography:
George Pierce was a physician and a Harvard College graduate who was apparently an amateur botanist. His herbarium was supposed to have been given to the Gray Herbarium about 1947.

Scope and Content:
The Pierce papers consist of a small booklet with a list of plants. Each page of the booklet is arranged in five columns: a number; an abbreviation; a plant name; an abbreviation in pencil (for month?); and a number. Nineteen pages have been written on. The booklet may be a listing of the plants in Pierce's herbarium.

Given to the Gray Herbarium in September, 1964, by Ruth Coolidge, a descendant of George Pierce; accessioned by the Gray Herbarium Library on June 2, 1966.
