The CMS data model for collections presented here is a structure for describing the botanical collections in the Herbaria both for the aim of providing collection data to botanists, locally and over the Internet, and for internal collections management purposes.
It is intended to be an accessible introduction to the entities and their relationships in the data maintained in the Herbaria's databases, and so represents a logical structure that is simpler than what has been actually implemented. The model is built around the particular internal needs of HUH as well as our commitment to delivering authoritive reference data and descriptive data on our collections on our website.
