Stuart Davies is a tropical ecologist and taxonomist specializing in the plants and ecosystems of Southeast Asia. Prior to becoming Science Director of the CTFS-AA Asia Program, he was Senior Research Associate at the Center for International Development and Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University (2001-2003) and Associate Professor at the Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (1997-2001).
Current Projects:
An examination of factors controlling the regeneration of tropical forest following logging and agriculture; the development, in collaboration with Malaysian and US ecologists and economists, of new techniques for the assessment and valuation of biodiversity in tropical forests; and an investigation of the evolution of hyper-diverse tree genera.
